ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖੀ ਕੀ ਹੈ?
Gursikhs are required to walk on the Guru's Path, as described by fourth master, Sri Guru Ram Das Sahib Ji:
gurisK mIq clhu gur cwlI ] (gurasikh meeth chalahu gur chaalee)
O Sikhs of the Guru, O friends, walk on the Guru's Path
Guru's path means the three concepts of Sikhism:
1) Naam Japna - Meditation on the Divine Name
2) Kirat Karna - Earning an Honest Living
3) Vand Chhaknna - Sharing your Earnings with the Needy
Who is a Gursikh?
The following are major characteristics of a Gursikh person:
A Gursikh is a person who does not cut their hair or trim their mustaches and beard.
Gursikhs do not consume any narcotics, drugs, tobacco or alcohol.
They never bow before anyone other than Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
A Gursikh man can be identified as a person with unshorn hair, unshorn mustaches and beard and wearing a turban. While a Gursikh woman can be identified as a person with unshorn hair usually covered either with a dupatta or a turban.
A Gursikh person may be Amritdhari or non-Amritdhari, but they must keep unshorn hair.
Gursikhs often visits Gurdwara Sahib.
Gursikhs are fond of doing Sewa (deeds of community welfare) & Simran (meditation on the divine chants).
